Come One, Come All!

If you’re in KK, do visit the Nature Conservation Expo being held from today until 2 December at the Foyer of Centre Point Sabah. There are many interesting and informative posters on Forests and Habitats, Wildlife and Biodiversity, and Environmental Protection. You’ll get to meet cool people involved in the forestry and environmental sectors (ahemmm… I’ll be there too tomorrow and Sat evening.. wink…)!

From 1-4 pm and 6 - 8:30 pm daily, primary and secondary schools students will get the chance to join in environmental education activities, so please spread the good news to your kids, cousins, siblings, etc! There will be goodies for them. The expo is organised by the Sabah Forestry Department together with other government departments, NGOs and the private sector (such as Starbucks and Burger King - had a fantastic cup of coffee from Starbucks this morning for FREE, yuuuummmy!) Starbucks will give out coffee samplers everyday too. You will also get really cool nature bookmarks from the hardworking Sepilok Junior Rangers (I love their uniforms!!) - so, what are you waiting for, friends? (o;

Well, that’s me and cousin Benn (looking really pleased with our Starbucks coffee!)

Aiseyman! I’ve been tagged by Earthy Emily on weird things about myself..

Rules are rules so here they are:

2. Share 7 random and or weird things about yourself.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Weird things about myself, eh? (o: Lemme think, lemme think…… Ok lah, here they are - sort of weird lah:
1. When I was pregnant with Shania in 2001, I used to purposely go to the HSBC 24-hour section just to smell the place!!
2. Still on pregnancy stories - there was one time I really wanted to taste the edge of an exercise book, and so I did! hahaha It was just a tiny piece of paper lahhh…
3. I can eat fresh cili padi (like, just biting it) during my meals.
4. When I was pregnant with Ted in 2005, I used to listen to Felix Agus’ songs every day for 3 months… I didn’t have to look at his face, listening to his voice would do…
5. I used to change my phone every few months, but it had to stop - what a waste of money! (FYI, my phone now is more than a year old already.. (o; )
6. I still love to watch Sesame Street.
7. I started watching Thomas and Friends and I love it! (even bought books through amazon. com)

I’ll end this tag here ya.. hehehe (I broke rule no. 3 already.. hehe)

Believe in Yourself

Shania and I had this conversation on our way to KK last Saturday.

Shania: Mum, when I don’t know how to do something, I must believe in myself then I can do it.

Mum: (speechless for a few seconds) Ya that’s very true! Where did you hear that from?

Shania: Oh, from Clifford the Big Red Dog…

And she reminded me again when we were walking around in Warisan Sq..

Shania: Mum, don’t forget what I told you just now. Don’t worry about work, you must believe in yourself, ok?

And so I said, yes, darling, I will remember that! Thanks a lot.

(I was still pondering on her words after that. Only adults would make life difficult for themselves when they lack self-confidence, huh?)

Christmas Shopping with Shania

Shania and I went shopping at Warisan Square and KK Toys yesterday for Christmas gifts. I prepared the list a few days ago and it is a long list. It’s really nice to shop when there’s still ample time before Christmas. (o: Can still KIV some gifts until you find the most suitable one for the particular person.

The decor is indeed lovely at Warisan. But of course, better viewed at night. Bought a few gifts there. We also had yogurt at Yogur Berry. Very refreshing.

After Warisan, we went to KK Toys to get pressies for the nieces and nephews. Thanks heavens for discount cards. We got really good bargains there. I actually suggested to Shania that we get pencil boxes for her cousins and she gave me this one look (a little bit horrified) and said ‘what?? pencil box? so boring!!’ Ok, ok, I get it. Pencil boxes are for mums and dads to buy for their kids before they return to school.

We’ll shop for more pressies next weekend at CP or Wisma Merdeka.

What Kind of Coffee Girl Are You?

I loveeee coffee (real strong coffee like kopi tenom, nescafe, flavoured coffee - you name it lah) (o:

You Are a Plain Ole Cup of Joe

But don’t think plain - instead think, uncomplicated
You’re a low maintenance kind of girl… who can hang with the guys
Down to earth, easy going, and fun! Yup, that’s you: the friend everyone invites.
And your dependable too. Both for a laugh and a sympathetic ear.

The Age that I Wish My Child Will Stay to Be

Aunty J  tagged me on this matter. Having 2 kids now aged (nearly) 6 and 1 year 9 months, I enjoy every stage of their growth very much. So how ahhh…
Ok - let’s settle for one age, 3ish years old. Shania has always been a chatterbox (gee, wonder where she got that from…). At that age, she attended pre-school at Suausindak Penampang (she went to school at the age of 3 years 1 month because her birthday is on 6 Dec). Everyday she would tell me what she did in school, who her friends were, who her favourite teachers were, and so on.

Sometimes, she would baby-talk to us and other times, she spoke to us as if she was a big girl. I suppose, she was in the ’transition’ period of being a ‘baby’ and a ‘big girl’ as she was already going to school. I was pregnant with Ted at that time and she told her teacher that ‘her mummy has a baby in the tummy and she will have a baby brother or sister soon’. She used to kiss my tummy and talked to Ted. We also did some shopping together for Ted. I really appreciated her understanding and it made life easier. When she needed extra attention, of course Terence and I would give her. We started taking her to the cinemas at that age too. When Ted was born (Shania was 4 years 2 months then), she was really excited for her little bro. She helped to take diapers, etc. Now, they argue from time to time but hey, that’s what siblings are for huh? (o;

I am not so sure how it’ll be for boys around 3ish years old. I can’t imagine how Ted would be at that age though… Well, that’s something to look forward to eh? (o:

I’ll end this tag here, but we can always have a discussion on this.. (o;

New on Advertlets

I’m new on Advertlets. It’s an advertising network where ‘advertisers make their message count and bloggers make money doing what they love’. Very interesting and I like their catchy motto ’Majulah Bloggers untuk Negara!’. I think it’s cool. (o:

I hope to earn some money through Advertlets in the near future (fingers crossed). In the meantime, I’ll sit back and blog a bit more…

Here’s a link to advertlets:

A sniff and cough day

*sniff* *cough*

Woke up this morning feeling flu-ish. Oh dear.. Must be the bug that’s going around plus it’s been raining here for the last few days, almost non-stop.

Still went to work today. Couldn’t really concentrate though. Managed to do some work eventually… But in the afternoon, I filled up the permission form to leave the office earlier. Boss was fine with it (I think he saw me looking miserable and not-so-myself). Anyway, on my way out, it started to rain cats and dogs and it was windy too. I was worried of the possibility of flooding (that’d be a nightmare, wouldn’t it?). Thank God the roads were fine all the way home.

Once safely home, I said hello to the kids and hugged them, and went straight to bed. How lovely to be home. Shania asked me if I wanted the air-cond switched on, but I said no - lah, it’s too cold. And so I went to sleep…

Had a good rest. But I need much more.
