Don’t Be…

…fooled tomorrow! *grin*

Saw this poem online:

The first of April, some do say,
Is set apart for All Fools’ Day.
But why the people call it so,
Nor I, nor they themselves do know.
But on this day are people sent
On purpose for pure merriment.

Poor Robin’s Almanac (1790)

Do you think your boss will get mad if you play a trick on him/her tomorrow? *big grin*

My brothers used to trick me when I was small. Yeah, we knew about April Fool’s Day even then! There were times I got really mad (because malu kana tipu)! Adakah.. Eh, bikin panas kan.. LOL Then my brothers would say, eehh inda sporting oh

Do share your AFD tricks or experiences ya.. *wink*

Attacked!

My parents’ house has been attacked by termites! The problem is faced in the bedroom next to the living room. I do not know what species of termites they are (may be those regular ones). Recently I read that a species of termites called formosan termites take several years to build up their colony but once it is big, the damage can happen in months! Gosh, that’s scary! To get rid of termites there are methods such as bait and liquid treatment but of course we need to call a professional exterminator.

2-in-1 Birthday

This particular group of friends were brought together in a leadership course in 2003.

We attended 4 modules (ranging from 2-3 weeks each time) and became good friends. We come from different government departments and have created our little network with each other. We also organised the trip to San Damiano, Kiulu last year.

It has become a tradition for us to celebrate each friend’s birthday and since last year, we’ve been celebrating 2-in-1 birthdays. *grin*

And so, for Feb & March, it’s my birthday together with Quirin (he is my second cousin!). We had a lovely dinner at Kohinoor, Waterfront and here’s the pictorial story. *wink*

Don’t Just Throw Them Away…

In terms of the management of paper or aluminium wastes in Sabah, the public has known for quite a while now that these wastes have values and can be recycled. Therefore, many people are recycling these materials. At home, we do recycling too (we also try to reduce our consumption in whatever ways we can!). However, in terms of plastic (polymer) wastes, only recently there are companies or organisations in the city and surrounding towns that collect these for recycling.

So, now people are a little bit more aware of the values of Recycled Polymers. Examples of most sought after plastics are like scrap left over from manufacturing, grocery bags and all kinds of HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) bottles.

What Kind of Gift Giver Are You?

I’ve been thinking of what to get for my 3 friends’ babies - twins (boys), a boy and a girl! (o: They will turn 1 month old in the next week or so. Incidentally, I saw this quiz and did it. *grin* Yeah, I think I am a practical gift giver.. he he

You Are a Practical Gift Giver

Your gifts are useful, appropriate, and custom tailored to each person.
In your opinion, the best gifts are gifts that someone will actually use.
Your gifts may not be the most glamourous, but they are always appreciated.

Go Away Wrinkles!

I’m not sure about you but now that I’m in my nearly mid-30s, I’ve started thinking (seriously) about the condition of my skin. *grin* When it comes to beauty regimes, I’m one of those lazy bums who don’t do much! LOL

I came across a line of anti-aging products (oh yeah, those that can reduce wrinkles…) online called Ethocyn by Chantal Pharmaceuticals. Its CEO is Chantal Burnison, and in the early 80s, she found a chemical substance that could be used as an ingredient to improve skin’s elasticity! That led her to develop Ethocyn line of skin care products. Very interesting, don’t you think?

So, I’d like to know. Anyone of you have used this product before? *wink*

Advance Assistance

I read a book recently about a group of women who were addicted to shoes! *grin* Well, I love shoes but I don’t think I’m addicted (I hope I won’t get to the addiction stage! LOL). Anyway, one of the women was willing to work extra hours just to earn money so she can buy more expensive shoes. She also took an overdraft or cash advance from her bank whenever she was caught in between her pay cheques. Interesting book, and to cut a long story short, they managed to open their own shoe company eventually (and solved whatever problems they were facing). Good ending!

Anyway, talking about cash advance, there are sites online that offer or review this service. One of them is Trustsource. One can apply online and in many cases there are no documents to be faxed. Upon approval, the money will be electronically be deposited into the applicant’s checking or savings acounts. Flexible payment options are also available.

Floating Vacation…

A few weeks ago, when hubby and I were driving along Tanjung Lipat, we saw a cruise ship docked nearby. It must be really exciting and fun to go on a cruise like that. Like a floating hotel, huh? Been dreaming about going on a cruise ship vacation - not in the near future though. (Also dreaming about going to HK Disneyland.. hmmm.. So many dreams, so limited funds.. *grin*)

Anyway, there are various cruise ship offers online (one of them is the Hawaii travel cruise ship special). Before you decide on which cruise to take, it’s better to read up reviews by those who have experienced being on a cruise.

When Will I Go Dot Com?

Jewelle has gone dot com recently and she said it was also a hint for me to do the same thing. *grin* Many bloggers have their own domain now, I’ve noticed. For me, I have not done enough research on this matter or to find out which is the best web hosting site. Can I do it? Will I be able to juggle maintaining more than the blogs that I already have? Well, I suppose all I need is time and focus to do this specific research, huh?

I started blogging about six months ago. All I knew then was a blog is like a diary - an online diary - where anyone is able to read or comment on the contents. I did not realise then that one can own a domain. *grin*

During the River Ranger training recently, I was super excited because one of the sessions was to train us to establish a blog! This is to enable us to train the school folks to have their own blog so they can share their findings on river monitoring results in their own area with the rest of the world! One of my friends who knows I’m a (part-time) blogger looked at me and said ‘Girl!!! Blog!!!’ I smiled at her happily. *big grin*
