Petrol Stations Going on Strike?

I went outstation to Membakut today and on the way back this afternoon, my colleagues and I saw many cars queuing at the petrol station in Donggongon. We were like, hah, harga minyak naik lagi???

When I reached home, hubby called to inform me to go quickly fill in the car tank. I was like, what happened? Apparently, the petrol station owners are going on strike for a few days! Reasons? We don’t really know……

Early in the morning, I did plan to bring my helper to Donggongon to see the doctor (her leg hurts) after returning from Membakut. So we went around 4ish pm. As expected the traffic jam was building up. We managed to escape Donggongon with cars barely moving at all after seeing the doctor.

I didn’t get the car tank filled. I just couldn’t be bothered. I mean, I’d be wasting my half filled tank just getting stuck in the jam, wouldn’t I?

I just hope and pray things will be ok again.

note: If the stations are still going on strike the next few days and no fuel in my car and hubby’s (and also the buses in town) then, how on earth are we going to work? I haven’t bought a bicycle……………… hmmm…

My Tree at St. Anthony…

Last Saturday, I gave an environmental talk at SK St. Anthony Penampang. It’s a small school with lovely people!

I got the chance to plant a tree at the school compound. :o)

The lady in light green t-shirt is the school principal.

May the tree grow to give shed and more oxygen to the school folks!

Just For a Moment…

…to take a photo with her. *grin*

Oh yeah, it was the famous lovely singer Stacy. I was checking in my things at the airport for the working trip to Sandakan and I did not realise it was her at first, but when my friend mentioned to me, I took a closer look and out came my camera! LOL

Stacy looked much younger than her ‘more matured’ stage look. A really lovely girl she is. (o:

Happy Father’s Day!

Happy Father’s Day to all Wonderful Daddies, Grandpas and Godfathers out there!

For my Daddy, thank you for everything from the bottom of my heart - the love, the discipline, the guidance and support!

For my darling hubby, Happy Father’s Day! You’re the HERO in our hearts! The children are truly blessed to have you as their Daddy. As Shania would say, ‘You’re the Best Daddy in the whole wide world!’ We love you!

For my brother, Terrance: you are indeed a fantastic all rounder Daddy (the chef and all!).

Happy Father’s Day to my special BIL Paul, Godwin and Fredolen!

I’d like to dedicate this song ‘Sing Me a Song Again, Daddy’ to all Fathers:

In loving memory of my late brother Roland and late father-in-law, I’d like to dedicate this song ‘Dance with my Father’ by Luther Vandross.

For my late brother Roland: You’ve always been the most caring Daddy to the boys, Celest will never forget that. We miss you so much.. )o: (Wish we could hug again, the biggest bear hug ever). *sigh*

More on CDs

My CD collection is growing slowly but steadily (and surely!)! LOL

I can’t wait for the cowhide (as shown below) to arrive!! It’s on its way, I was told by Grace. *grin* I love the cowhide prints, Shania loves it too. She said, ‘Buy for Ted, Mum!’. She’s one of my loyal supporters of CD apart from hubby, my Mum (oh yeah, she can explain about CDs to my aunts, etc now!), sisters, best friend, etc. *wink*

Image borrowed from here. Cheers!

For those who are in KK, some of you might know there’s a shop that sells CDs. I went there a few weeks ago, for the first time to check on their CDs. They have quite a collection but when I spoke to the owner, I was truly dissapointed. Why? She told me she’s been selling CDs for five years. And yet, her baby was still wearing a disposable!! I mean, hello? Five years selling CDs and not go 100% using it? I can understand if she has to travel really far and can’t wash the CDs on time, but that was like, she’s sitting in the shop. Her reason was ‘Oh, I’ve been busy the last few days’. If I were the owner, I’d have a collection of hundreds of CDs by now! *sigh*

Anyways…. If you are in KK and would like to see the CDs personally, I really recommend you to contact Sandra and Miranda. I really respect these ladies. They practise what they preach and they are so passionate about what they’re doing. They’re our KK CD experts!

From Rainy Sandakan

It’s raining heavily in Sandakan. I’ve been here since afternoon to attend a meeting for the Malaysian Environmental Education Conference preparation (just finished meeting at 6:30 pm) and judging a school for the environment-friendly school programme tomorrow.

Have a lovely evening peeps, and hope it doesn’t flood…

Take good care!

Every Book You Read Was Once A Tree

I read the Malaysia Airlines Going Places magazine recently and one of the articles caught my attention and interest.

The title was ‘Forest Trump’ and I found out that we can plant a tree for every book we read! Wow… I must admit that I’m one of the guilty ones who have sacrificed many trees in order to read books! Any more guilty ones out there? Raise your hand, be honest! *grin*

I surfed Eco-Libris’ site yesterday and started my journey to ‘pay back’ the trees I’ve sacrificed by paying USD5 for 5 books I’ve read (ok, ok, I ‘owe’ nature much more, but I will continue to ‘pay back’, ok? By installment lah.. *wink*) Eco-Libris’ programme was featured in the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) website too.

The Eco-Libris Team (a California-based company) acts as a middle person to collect donations from the reading community and use the money to plant trees in collaboration with other partners. Trees are planted in Nicaragua, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and other developing countries.

I wish we could do the same in Malaysia too. I’ll mention this to friends in the Sabah Forestry Department and we’ll see if we could a similar programme in Sabah. I believe it’s workable!!!

And oh, I’ll receive a sticker (made from recycled paper) for every book I balance out. Coolest eh? I can’t wait to receive my stickers!

Image borrowed from here. Cheers!
